Suitable for the AL-511-00 IP-DALI-BRIDGE, our bus power supply AL-520-00 BUS POWER SUPPLY provides enough output current for a fully equipped DALI line.

With the double terminal points in spring terminal technology, it enables simple connection within the DALI line in the sub-distribution.

When a DALI line needs a bus power supply

For planning

Without a bus voltage of typically 16 V, no device on a DALI line can communicate. If the master does not supply it itself, a bus power supply goes into the line – the AL-520-00 with up to 240 mA.

1With the IP-DALI BridgeThe AL-511-00 is a DALI master without its own power supply. Every line on the bridge therefore needs an AL-520-00.

2With EnOcean controllersBL-201 and BL-204 have a 30 mA power supply built in, enough for 15 ballasts. An additional AL-520-00 on the same line would add up to 270 mA, above the maximum of 250 mA.

3Current budgetUp to 2 mA per control gear: 64 ballasts need at most 128 mA. Bus-powered push buttons and sensors come on top, such as 4.1 mA for the AL-500-00 input module. A full line still leaves headroom.

4Not an LED driverThe AL-520-00 powers the bus, not the luminaires. A “DALI power supply” for LED strips is a dimmable LED driver with a DALI input – a control gear on the line, not a bus power supply.

How many DALI devices can one bus power supply feed?

The AL-520-00 delivers up to 240 mA. At no more than 2 mA per control gear, that is enough for a full line with 64 ballasts and leaves headroom for bus-powered push buttons and sensors.

Can two DALI power supplies be used on one line?

Only if their currents together do not exceed 250 mA. Two AL-520-00 on one line are too much, and so is a controller with a built-in power supply plus an AL-520-00.

Is a DALI power supply the same as a DALI LED driver?

No. A bus power supply provides the bus voltage for communication. An LED driver with a DALI input powers the luminaire and is itself a participant on the bus.

How is the AL-520-00 connected?

In the sub-distribution board on a DIN rail, 2 modules wide, supplied with 230 V AC. The double spring terminals allow the DALI line to be looped through.
